A Hidden Sanctuary
on Hiriketiya Bay

Tucked behind a garden wall in the centre of the bay, The Cove is a small collection of private beachfront villas designed for calm, space and perspective.

From here, the entire curve of Hiriketiya unfolds. Elevated just above the beach, the view is uninterrupted yet everything remains within reach. The first wave of the morning, the slow movement of the ocean and the last surfers at sunset. Witness all from where you are.

A place to stay by the ocean quietly, privately and entirely on your own terms.

Hiriketiya, Sri Lanka

A small horseshoe-shaped bay on Sri Lanka’s south coast, Hiriketiya lies just a few hours from Colombo and the international airport – yet feels a world away. Over time, it has become one of the country’s most sought-after coastal destinations – familiar to some, still undiscovered to many.

Celebrated for its surf break, creative crowd, cultural curation and evolving café and dining scene, the bay holds a rare balance of energy and ease, movement and stillness.

It is a place people come for a few days – and stay longer. And more often than not, return to again.

Private Villas in Hiriketiya

The Cove offers three distinct villas, each designed to create a sense of privacy while remaining connected to the landscape. Some look directly over the ocean and surf break. Others are tucked further back in a space more secluded, immersed in greenery.

Across the property, there are nine guest rooms in total. The villa features its own private pool along with spaces to gather or retreat depending on how you choose to spend your time. At the centre, a communal villa brings everything together with a shared lounge, terrace and main pool overlooking the bay. It is a space designed for slow afternoons, conversation and the playful rhythm of the bay.

Life at the Edge of the Bay

Days at The Cove follow the rhythm of the ocean shaped by light and movement with the freedom to do very little or quite a lot. Mornings begin with the first wave rolling into the bay. Some head out to surf while others watch from the terrace with coffee in hand. Sea turtles surface between sets, part of the everyday.

As the day unfolds, the pace softens. Time moves between the pool, the shade and the beach just beyond the gate. There is only a gentle sense of where the day might go.

Step out, and Hiriketiya offers its own rhythm. Cafés, beach bars and restaurants line the bay from long lunches to sunset cocktails. A short walk leads towards Dikwella Beach where the coastline opens and the crowds fall away.

For those who venture beyond, the south coast of Sri Lanka stretches into something more expansive with national parks, rainforests and inland landscapes rich with wildlife and history.  From elephants in Udawalawe National Park to the biodiversity of Sinharaja Forest Reserve. Beyond that, a taste of Ceylon tea and the scent of cinnamon from plantations inland. There is more to the region than its shoreline.

But more often than not, the day returns to where it began – back to the bay, as the sun hides away beyond the horizon and the waves roll in with the tide softly.
